Friends of the Atmore Public Library,
formed to provide support for
the Library,
is funded through memberships
and donations
of caring citizens who realize
the importance
and value of this resource to
our community
and the surrounding areas.
During 2006,
contributions to the Friends of the Library helped match funds for a
children's book grant. They also
provided matching funds for a Strengthening Youth and Family grant that
provided 6 computers plus reading and math software for middle school
students. Contributions also provided entertainers for our Summer
Reading Programs and purchase 2 computers for the adult and student
department.
Without our
Friends of the Library we could not possibly provide the level of
service we do. Of the 24 computers in the library, the Friends
helped purchase 21 of these computers through matching grant funds.
